EDH Story Circle from Episode 216

Treva, the RenewerWe did a Story Circle with Daniel Beach on Episode 216, and it turned out so well I wanted to immortalize it here for all to see.  We hit the Random Card button on Gatherer until we came across a legendary creature, and it just happened to be a great one for a deckbuilding exercise – Treva, the Renewer.  Everyone loves using the Invasion dragons as generals, right?

So we started with the general and went from there.  We took turns going around and naming off cards for the deck until we decided we had a good  base, and we stopped.  I know I’m just telling you stuff you know already, but I’m trying to take up room so there’s not a massive chunk of empty space on this post!  And it looks like I succeeded, so on to the list!

I had a Treva lifegain deck on modo. It was terrible but fun. I found that I couldn’t gain more than 32 000 life on modo, and I couldn’t get a creature with more than 1 004 power. That happened in the same game (Which I still lost somehow.)

Ageless Entity with Beacon of Immortality was how that happened.

This deck seems pretty cool. I would put in some Overruns for good measure. And I love, love that there were some order in the Story Circle like Dirk said. Makes it much more interesting. Do it again.

Hey guys, great episode. It was definitely fun to see you guys do a Story Circle for EDH. You should do that every time (forget casual 60 card decks, who plays those anymore anyways?) After hearing the Treva deck, I knew I had to build it. By the way, Drogskol Reaver is going to be my lynchpin. That card seems BONKERS in Treva.

Half way into the episode, I was like “Wait, this Beach guy sounds familiar…” Then when you said that they should come up to Minnesota, I totally knew who you were. Awesome. By the way, you still play at Dreamers all that often? 🙂

Great episode guys! Loved the story circle, but perhaps the most obvious choice in a token deck… Gotta have Doubling Season!!!

Holy crap duh! How did we manage to miss that one? We’re bad at this game!

I thought about it, but decided it was one of those deck-staple / auto-include cards that we usually leave unsaid during a Story Circle.
