Wow, the sheer amount of response we’ve gotten on the last two questions is unbelievable! Thanks to all of you for offering up your creatures and voting on decks! We really appreciate all the feedback, and I assure you this is all going to make sense…eventually. I assure you we have a plan of some sort!
But now, we have another request for everyone. We want instants! In the comments below, give us an instant and tell us why you’re giving us this instant. The rules are the same as before – no repeats and nothing from an Un-set. But other than that, you have free reign! We don’t care what makes you choose said instant, so long as you tell us. Burn, pump, card draw, whatever you want to give us is freakin’ great. We don’t even care if it’s good, bad, or completely indifferent! Thanks a lot and be on the lookout for another one tomorrow!

Counterspell.
I mean, hey… it does everything you need it to. Stop a guy, stop a spell, win the game, prevent damage. It’s ideal.. unless someone gets all green and Pro-blue.
Stone Idol Trap, purely because I was short on time to build a deck last night for FNM when I decided to chuck some good red stuff together. I’ve never played him before, but I gave him a chance in my main deck as a playset and he won me 2 games in 2 seperate matches. Now I wish he didn’t have to rotate
This is copied from ‘We Need Creatures’ because I fail.
One with Nothing
First rare I ever got in a booster I bought for myself. It started my interest in the game (It’s a rare but it seems terrible! What’s the catch?) So I started exploring what I could do with it. Turns out nothing, but nevermind. I’ve collected that single card ever since. So yeah. I have almost 100 One with Nothing, it’s always a laugh when somebody opens my tradebinder and sees the first 5 pages or so stocked with it.
Branching Bolt.
As a modal common, it does so much. It can nuke two creatures but still be useful if there’s only one thing that needs getting rid of. It’s one of my favorite commons ever, and it was an auto-include in my first (and only) Pauper deck. Great all around and super good at dealing with stuff.
Lightning Bolt.
After a few years of trying out all the colours, I seem to have settled on red for my colour of choice for the time being. Might be the speed of play/making decisions that I like. Lightning Bolt embodies all that quite well. Plus I started playing years after they stopped printing it, so was quite happy when they started printing it again.
Word of Command, I mean really it is amazing on just about every level there is.
The Power Level is ridiculous, if timed correctly, I mean it is no where near mind slaver, but then again you don’t feel like a bit of a Git while playing it. A well Timed Word can really screw over someone’s turn, and all for just two mana!
The Flavour of the card is awesome, whether you choose to flavour it as a sly suggestion in the dark or barking orders at someone to force them to yield to your will. When you Word of Command properly … you feel … Villainous…
The Art of the Card is one of my favourite arts ever, I mean I am a Rebecca Guay Fanboy and I am not ashamed to admit it. But both this art and the art for Stasis are In my Top 5. It’s simplistic, you see those eyes and you know that ****’s going down. No one in their sane state of mind has seen those eyes across the table and thought “This is going to turn out fine”, Unless you’re targeting the hellbent guy in which case as a good man once said, You’re doing it wrong!
Intimidation Bolt – loved this art, concept and flavor. When this came out in the Shards block, it still followed the flavor of a Boros deck and has been the ultimate “I say No!!” card for my Naya and 5 color decks.
Wild Ricochet. Because that can completely ruin everything and I love ruining things! LIKE TIME STRETCHES #screwtimestretch
Fork, because it can be any of these and more.
Whim of Volrath
I love this card with protection from {not Blue} creatures, like in my Animar EDH deck.
Tainted pact!
Because it lets you find a card that you need, for the cost of exiling the cards you don’t need. Also i like the name.
This is a tough one, hmm.
There’s a lot of good ones I’d love to choose, but if I have to I’ll narrow it down…
Electrolyze. Useful in several directions – eliminate a pair of utility-weenies, get rid of one bear, or burn their dome, all while drawing a card. And U/R is just a fun color combination.
if you count flash spells, then Venser, Shaper Savant because he’s totally unique in what he does, which is awesome.
If not, then I’d have to go with the classic Giant Growth. After all these years, still an epic combat trick to pull and for only 1 mana.
Mutagenic Growth.
So much fun to see the look on an opponents face when they think that you’re swinging for less than death. And you’re tapped out.
I guess I will say cryptic command.
I can stil remember the days when it was in standard and how annoying it was to play against it. I also remember how fun it was to play with it. Overall it is one of the best instants of all time.
Gut Shot
Like a new and improved Hornet Sting that can be in any color. Cool name, but not really my type of card.
Think Twice.
Hmm, wait maybe I want something else. Lemme think about that.
Nope, I’m going with Think Twice.
I see what you did there.
After Life
flavorful. very white. and it can turn a giant dude to a tiny spirit. nice.
Chaos Warp, for the way it changes the game, and lets red do stuff it normally cannot do easily (deal with enchantments).
swords to plowshares
Removing pesky creatures since 1994!
Shower of Sparks. I tease my friend endlessly for running this card in a couple of decks. I’d much rather have a even a Shock, sacrificing the multi-tasking for the more concentrated damage. Well, that endless teasing tends to end when my first turn one drop eats it to his Shower of Sparks and I take one to the face. It never fails.
False cure
It’s a little bit the result of playing in a group using lots of lifegain like congregate, so I really like this answer to it.
Even made a great combodeck with it!
Also like the flavour
Sick and Tired
This card was released in Urza’s Legacy, which was the first set to have foils. That means this was one of the first cards ever to have a foil version. When my friend opened up a foil copy of this card out of one of his first Legacy packs, we looked at the picture and simultaneously said, “FOIL VOMIT!”
I think he still has that as his only foil card.
Momentous Fall
I loved playing this with my big green creature decks and denying my opponent a kill with whatever instant/sorcery card that was targeting my creature
why yes in response i will sacrifice my 6/6 creature and draw 6 cards and gain 6 life
WIN!
Lets go with White Sun Zenith! X costs are always fun, and as with last time, it’s the cornerstone of a deck. =)4
Pongify
I love this card it’s just so funny
and it only costs U !!!
Great! Did everyone answer all the rest of the questions, including the Deck List Poll? We have some ties, we need more votes! We’re cutting off the responses Friday night, so be sure to hurry up and answer them all!
Momentary Blink
What is more fun than momentary blinking a chimney imp!

Great creature removal in black. Goes great with Go 4 the Throat/Doom Blade
