Brand New Look!

The brand spankin’ new look for TheManaPool.com is here!  Scott’s been working on it for a long time (as you’ve heard in the episodes), and it has paid off! I’m going to highlight a few things here so you’ll have an idea of what to look out for.  If you find anything that doesn’t work, doesn’t look right, or seems broken then please let us know, either in an email or a comment so we can fix it as soon as possible!

– At the top of the page you’ll see see all the various social networking sites (Google Plus is coming soon!).  You’ll also see all the ways to subscribe to us.  There’s the site’s RSS feed so your feed-reader will tell you whenever we post anything, the various ways to subscribe to just the podcast, and even a link straight to the feed on iTunes to make it easier on you!

– The ability to send us an email from the site is now MUCH less confusing.  When you click it, it’ll pop up a window to fill out.  When you hit Send, it will clear the fields AND give you a thank you message!  Maybe we won’t get 75 copies of the same email anymore because the site wasn’t clear about that sort of thing.

– Scroll all the way down to the bottom (to the grass) to check out the new footer that shows off the latest Tweets, most recent posts, and of course the most popular posts.

– When you’re on an individual post, there’s a handy-dandy bar at the bottom of your screen that allows you to subscribe to the comments for that post (brand new feature!), pin it on Pinterest, +1 it on Google Plus, Tweet it on Twitter, like it on Facebook, and send us an email without having to scroll back up!

– There are also Author Bios (still being added, but a couple are up already) and Category Descriptions (coming soon) to give you a little more information about who we are and what we’re up to here on the site.

Now that the technical side of  everything is updated, we’re going to start with the updated content!  You know and love the Extraplanar Augury horoscopes and whatnot,  so keep an eye out for an expanded look at the different signs.  We’re going to have some guest authors, starting with Bill Bloodworth (yes that’s still his real name) and his tourney report about SCG Charlotte.  I have some stuff I’ve been saving written by Myke Okuhara that we simply must share with all of you.  Lots of good stuff coming, so keep checking back!  And again, if you find something broken or funny-looking (other than the pictures at the top, that’s what we actually look like) then send us an email or make a comment so we’ll know!

Nice change. The actual pool at the bottom, with the host’s corresponding colours, is a great touch.

Awesome!!! Looks much much MUCH more refined. i love the subtle hints of texture, the rounded edges, the web icons..

a few minor tweaks (mostly for Scott):
    1. A bit of space (maybe 5px?) on the top, right before the header, for breathing room
    2. the stars background looks a bit pixellated..?

and yup! haha that’s it. it looks great as it is! congratulations. :3

Thanks for the positive and constructive feedback, everyone! Also today, we’ve added Google Plus to the social sites listed up top and will be working on deeper integration with them. Updates will keep coming as time allows.

Thanks for the considerations, Jars! I added the top margin and will tinker/durdle with the background during the week.

FYI Scott, your efforts earned you the honorific of “Techpriest” from a commenter in our forums. Very nice job.

Now the song is stuck in my head, but thankfully that’s not a bad thing.

Nice! Mike — The editing issue on the back-end has been fixed, too. Also, Laura’s hot.

An easter egg has been added to all pages/posts of the site! Why? 2 reasons — for awesome and, of course, for *science*.

I noticed the Tab indexing order is a little messed up in the “Leave a Reply” section. When the Tab index order should (presumably) be:

    Name -> Email -> Website -> Comment

    … instead it’s:

Name -> Website -> Top of Webpage (social networking bar)
Email -> Comment -> Post Comment highlight
