Episode 490 – For the Alliance(s)!

ep490

It’s the final TMP of 2017! We’re talking about the newly revealed Rivals of Ixalan mechanic, Ascend. Then we have to talk about the end of Duel Decks, and how that’s sad but not terribly sad.

The bulk of the episode is a Mythic Conscription for Alliances, the follow-up to Ice Age. This set…this set, man. It’s uh…it’s a set. Of cards. It’s a tough one for the MC treatment because some of these cards are just..lame. Also, Force of Will? Uncommon. That’s important.

We hope everyone enjoys the end of their year and any holiday celebrations you may partake in! Let’s make 2018 awesome!

Lord of Tresserhorn has a special place in my heart because it was the impetus for one of the last 60-card decks I made. I built a UBR Torpor Orb deck specifically to make this playable, and I’ll tell you, when it comes down on turn three with no drawbacks… it feels pretty playable. For both its raw stats and incredibly narrow usefulness, I call it a Mythic for sure.
