The Age of Amonkhet is upon us! The new Masterpieces are called Invocations and they have the entire internet in an uproar. We’ll touch on all the problems people have had and give our opinions. Then we’ll cover all the mechanics and a handful of cards that are just sick, including a pair of awesome planeswalkers. The new set looks like fun!

You guys will be glad to know Maro stated that starting with Hour, they will be diversifying the planeswalker cards with less gatewatch representation among them.
I’m personally intrigued that while the Theros gods needed devotion to turn on, the Amonket gods thus far have abilities to create their own devotion, which provides an interesting contrast between the two.
I suddenly have an image in my head of the Crocodile god blasting Rob Zombie’s Dragula as he runs people over with a giant muscle car.
I’m glad the name and type lines should be more legible in person, but that doesn’t really jive with MaRo coming out with the tidbit on his Tumblr that they intentionally made the font illegible, to evoke the same effect that the Phyrexian text had on the Elesh Norn judge promo. I love the art, and I’m fine with the card frame, but the font, yeesh.
The Elesh Norn promo was one card with super-recognizeable art, so… yeah I don’t get it either.
