Episode 334 – Gods Be Praised! (or Not)

Gods

Just be glad I didn’t name this episode ZOMG.  First up, after a long hiatus we’ve got a new Magic Mad Lib from Brian!  Yay!  Look up The Brute by the way, it’s really weird.

Then we delve deep into our main topic – the Gods of Theros!  Now that we’ve had a chance to play with them and see how they’ve done in the tournament world, we decided to revisit them.  We’re taking a look at what they do, how we like them, what you could do with them casually, their place in the Theros story, and their Greek pantheon equivalents.  It’s a lot of fun and it’s very long, so we hope you enjoy!

I had to actually do some editing this episode, so keep on eye on TheManaPool.com for the outtakes in the coming days!

I think MadLib is copyrighted, but “Mana Pool Word Game Puzzle Thing Where You Give Me The Names Of Magic Cards And I Fill In The Blanks And I Read It And It Sounds Hilarious And Sometimes I Can’t Keep Myself From Laughing And It Sounds Incredibly Juvenile” is probably available.

When I saw the first trailer for the new Hercules, I thought it was weird how much Dwane Jonson looked like Kevin Sorbo in it, given that they actually look nothing alike. Glad I’m not crazy.

Iroas and Mogis are kind of an interesting case, because Aries/Mars has some of the most pronounced differences between his Greek and Roman aspects. It really seems like Mogis is based o Aries, and Iroas is based on Mars.

If MadLib is copyrighted, go with Magic Libs, with suspiciously yet innocently similiar shortening MagLib ;)

I ran this Simic deck at Game Day and went 2-1-1 (6th place)

Thought it was relevant since it runs three Gods!
