Episode 291 – Old Monsters vs. New Heroes

The decklists for Duel Decks: Heroes vs. Monsters have been revealed, and with them two of the mechanics from Theros along with a small handful of cards.  The dorks go over all of this new stuff and and decks themselves.  Spoiler alert: They look like fun.

After that, we did another Old vs. New, this time focusing on the horrific antics of the Rakdos guild.  Two versions of Rakdos himself, a pair of Blood Witches, and of course the guildmages face off to determine whether the old guard or the new hotness are superior.  You know, once we remembered what we were doing.

We finished it off by reading a pair of very inspiring and wonderful listener emails.  This led to us being exceptionally mushy and giving out some of our patented life-enriching advice.  Well, patent-pending.  It’s good stuff though, so do enjoy.

By the way, here’s where you can find the list for the Duel Decks: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/261

And here’s the link to the first reveal of Rakdos Augermage that we discussed: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtgcom/daily/bd223

Chewie is totally right, Brian is totally wrong. The Avengers is one of the best movies of the last decade, and The Dark Knight Rises was a terrible follow up to what is another of the greatest movies of the last decade. Between it’s complete disregard to the style of the previous movies, to the lame villain and the most un-batman like fight ever filmed (that includes Batman and Robin) it’s a terrible film.

I hereby bestow blanket immunity for Brian thinking all Asians look alike… because we do. In fact I am only 90% certain that I’m not the person depicted in Rakdos Augermage. For the record, it was the Invitational card for Terry Soh, from Malaysia.

The price is the same as the PC version here in the UK. I have puerhascd the last couple of them for my xbox but this year decided to go for the iPad version. The controls work well and in many ways its easier to use than the console controller. It looks a great candidate to played on a big screen using Apple TV if you have that option. So far, I am really liking it and not regretting the switch from my xbox.
