We’re joined this episode by Bill, the voice of Squee, who haven’t heard from in a good while. We kick it off with a quick rules correction from last episode – Mike missed one small detail on the question about the single spell with Cascade, Storm, and Ripple. Imagine that, something got missed in the most complicated spell ever. No one is allowed to give Mike any crap about that one. All the others are fair game as usual though.
After that Chewie gives a quick rundown of all the podcast whoring he’s been doing lately. By lately we mean in the last couple months, because some of these took a while to show up. He’s been on Off-Color Cast, Kitchen Finks, Horde of Notions, and was one of the guys on the new Five Minutes of Magic cast that is, in fact, only five minutes long. He also had another video for CMDR Decks, his Spirit of the Night deck, which you can find right here:

By now everyone’s heard the news that came out of PAX East, and if not you’ll hear it for the first time right here! There’s the Return to Ravnica, Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, and Nicol Bolas showing up in the M13 Core Set. Holy crap that’s a lotta news keeping us from the spoilers! There’s one last thing before the spoilers though, as Chewie gets all mushy and heartfelt for once in his miserable life to extend a special thanks to some listeners for their generosity.
Oh, and then there’s a whole MESS of Avacyn Restored previews. We’ve got angels, demons, devils, BOOM, pants-crapping, stunned silence, angry eyebrows, miracles, and Elmer Fudd. It’s gonna be great.

So I’m gonna have to go back and listen to the episode again as I spent the first run through ignoring what everyone said and listening to the music
Heh, sorry about that. I must have gone through and tinkered with the audio levels of both the songs and the voices over the songs about 4 times apiece to be sure you could hear the music and still make out what we were saying. How’d I do?
You done good, the songs were both entertaining and unexpected, so I immediately switched off from the actual talking.
I enjoyed the music, but found it to be too loud at times, overpowering the dialogue.
I think it would be better to keep to non-lyrical music (“Magus’s Theme”) rather than lyrical (“One-Winged Angel”).
Liked the musical drops, but was HIGHLY disappointed that the music for Killing Wave wasn’t Wave of Mutilation by the Pixies.
Aw man, that’s a good one. Dammit. My bad, man, I totally missed it :p
I think Miracle may be my favorite mechanic in a long while. If miracle cards see enough play, you’re going to see a whole new mini-game come out of the draw step: reading your opponents reaction to their draw. If they hesitate, does that mean they’re considering playing something for a miracle cost, or are they bluffing and having you think they’ve just drawn a thunderous wrath to save for the late game. I’m very excited to see how this effects people’s style of play.
I think you went way overboard with the long stretches of music. I found myself highly distracted from the talk and skipping ahead to where it was over.
The first music piece, ‘i’m blue dabadidabadai’ over something Brian said actually made me laugh though, also, it was a short bit, and thus much less distracting.
I greatly appreciated Mike’s rant on the Killing Wave art, that was very perceptive and smart.
Great episode! The musical backdrops were nice, the magus music especially was a nostalgia trip for me. Loved that game.
I have to say the music during the previews is almost frustrating. It was very hard to concentrate on what you guys were saying. I was almost dreading the next card… then you hit Griselbrand. That was perfect =)
I haven’t finished the episode yet but I just wanted to put my two cents in.
Griselbrand + Venser’s Journal = AWESOME hilarity. Just need a couple of Psychosis Crawlers….
Thank you, Scott.
Have you guys drawn winners for the decked builder codes yet? I would like to know if I won it or not so I can buy it if I didn’t.
Since I finally got a job, things have been a little weird this week. I’ma do that very soon!
Holy s**t, you got a job? Congratulations!
