Episode 170 – Enchanted Evening with Eric

Searing MeditationWe are joined this episode by none other than the Many-Named One himself, Eric!  Yay!  Lots of news this episode, from new Commander cards to M12 Planeswalker news to Planeswalker news from the next big set.  And we’re on a new geeky network, and Swift is on iTunes!  Man that was a lot.  Of course Eric sidetracks us several times during all that.  Otherwise it wouldn’t be any fun at all.

Don’t forget to enter the contest before it’s over on March 20!

Be sure to follow Eric on Twitter @thewachman – he’s always on there and is more than happy to tweet back at ya!

A.A.A. Network:

M12 news:

Then Eric hits us with his Searing Meditation deck, which sounds like a lot of fun.  He got the set and didn’t build a deck for roughly two and a half years, but I think it was worth the wait.  Of course, somehow this leads into some random discussions about EDH…somehow.  I’m not entirely sure how, really.  Better listen to find out.

From there, Brian takes us into the world of Mirrodin Besieged drafting, where he gives us a look at his first experience with it, which he claims was excellent.  We shall soon see.  From there the conversation turns to all kinds of nonsense, because Eric is here and he’s entirely too much fun.

Quick aside: The music for this episode is from The Protomen.  It’s Hope Rides Again, the first track from Act I, their first album.  I’ve given you 3 bits of it in an attempt to get you hooked.  They’ve taken the mythos of Mega Man and turned it into a badassed rock opera sort of thing, and it’s seriously badassed.

Oooh, a new episode! Can’t wait to listen to it! Actually, I probably will, because I’m not driving anywhere today. But I can listen to it when I walk the dog, I suppose. It’ll probably turn in to an extra-long walk then 🙂

Also, I know this is a little late, but this still counts for Friday, right? I mean, it’s Friday in parts of the states, right? 😛

There was so much rambling in that episode.. I practically felt like I was in a study hall with all four of you lecturing me on the impact of Big Jace in Core Set standard. But let’s not forget, Ajani’s Brother and every other cat person look the damned same, Metal limbs or no.

Is it just me, or is blue the Hitler of Magic? It enjoys preventing over people from enjoying things they like, hates every other color, and spends its time either being obscenely powerful or whining about how it isn’t strong enough. I apologize for offending any blue players.

And it’s good to hear Eric on again. He’s a very cool guy, with very cool kids who is very fun to podcast with. And he has not been on shows enough recently.

I personally don’t believe in power creep. I believe in power normalization, considering how sucky creatures were in the paste and how insanely powerful non-creature spells were in the past.

Man. We need more Eric. He just feels like one of you. I do hope that the real Dirk comes back and awes us about being father.
