A few weeks ago, Chewie talked me into filming a marathon session of videos for the CMDR Decks channel. Scott helped us record all four decks I had built at the time, and the first installment is my Dakkon Blackblade deck. As always, let me know what you think in the comments here, or in the comments section on YouTube if you feel so inclined. To be honest, there’s no guarantee I’ll read the YouTube comments, as I do my best to avoid reading any YouTube comments as a general rule (that stuff will rot your brain). The delivery might not be as smooth in this first video as it became in the other three, but I still think you’ll like it.
[Chewie addendum: Check out Mike's super-sweet Dakkon! And the shiny Wasteland makes my wallet hurt. Also, that's the playmat Mike talked about getting from Steve Argyle at the SCG Invitational in Charlotte - it's purty!]
Oh JAM it’s another Story Circle! As stated in the title of this post, this is from Episode 218, the episode that featured the lovely Laura Diemer and the great Bill Boulden, otherwise known as Laura by Spruke. But if you want all that information, go look at the post for that episode!
This time around, Laura had other obligations and had to cut out before we got to the Story Circle. Also, Brian was exhausted and had to leave, but not before he dropped the randomly-chosen legend on us. This guy is totally Tim the Enchanter. No really, look at him. And he Fogs every turn! What can we do with that? Well keep reading to find out! I again separated each time around the table and gave you the order so you’ll know who to blame for each card. We had entirely too much fun with this one, focusing on abilities that don’t belong in Bant colors and maximizing the use we could get out of our general’s ability. We hope you enjoy this one as much as did!
Here’s the BW Tokens deck Brian took to the SCG Open in Charlotte earlier this month. If you want to hear all about how the deck worked and all the stories and whatnot that go with it, you should listen to the first part of Episode 218. He went into detail about all his rounds and how the deck was working and all that good stuff!
By the way, I’m posting this under his name because it’s his deck and so he’ll be notified of comments. He’s not pompous enough to be talking about himself in the third person.

Hey look, another Story Circle! Episode 217 featured none other than Jack Lacroix! You know, that Southern guy from Monday Night Magic, Horde of Notions, and @JackLacroix on Twitter. You know him. But we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to do a Story Circle with Jack, so here it is!
After clicking past one of the legendary monowhite birds from Odyssey block (What? I didn’t want to do a monocolored deck!) I ended up on the Sapling, as you can see in the picture to the right. We took turns naming off cards (you know, what we do in a Story Circle), which I wrote down so I could make this companion post for the episode. They’re listed below in the order we came up with them and separated by each round. I labeled who picked what in the first round – that order applies for the subsequent rounds (you know, so you’ll know who to blame). If you want commentary and reasoning and whatnot, just listen to the episode!
We did a Story Circle with Daniel Beach on Episode 216, and it turned out so well I wanted to immortalize it here for all to see. We hit the Random Card button on Gatherer until we came across a legendary creature, and it just happened to be a great one for a deckbuilding exercise – Treva, the Renewer. Everyone loves using the Invasion dragons as generals, right?
So we started with the general and went from there. We took turns going around and naming off cards for the deck until we decided we had a good base, and we stopped. I know I’m just telling you stuff you know already, but I’m trying to take up room so there’s not a massive chunk of empty space on this post! And it looks like I succeeded, so on to the list!
